Madeline's (607/277-2253)--The food is just as lively as the atmosphere in this bistro, where a hand-painted mural adorns the wall and live jazz provides entertainment every weekend. At lunch, press sandwiches made with homemade rosemary focaccia are the fortb as are thin-crust pizzas. At dinner, choices include mussels diablo, oven-seared tuna steak and roasted pork loin in a light sage cream sauce. The specialty of the house, though, is the dessert menu--particularly the mouthwatering pastries. Located on the Commons in downtown Ithaca, Madeline's is open for lunch daily from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Dinner is served from 5 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
