Rose Inn (607/533-7905)--15 units. Built in 1851, this four-star, four-diamond Italianate inn is known for its stunning mahogany circular staircase as well as high ceilings, marble fireplaces and antiques throughout. Its formal parlor is a charming gathering place for guests who enjoy a fine library and good company and, in the various dining rooms, guests enjoy a full country breakfast and--by reservation--prix fixe gourmet dinners. Rooms, all with private baths, are furnished with period pieces that reflect an elegance of days gone by. For extra comfort, there are feather beds, down comforters and plush bathrobes in every room. There are four honeymoon suites with jacuzzi baths. Conference facilities for 75 people can be found in a restored 1840's carriage house. Rates for the Rose Inn range from $1 00 to $275.
