Rita's Country Bed & Breakfast (607/257-2499)--3 units. Nestled among cedar trees, pastures and meadowlands atop the hills of Ithaca, this inn was constructed in 1843 as the Freese Farmstead. The house has been faithfully restored as a Greek Revival of the Federal Period. Each of the rooms has a cozy county feeling with private baths. Guests start their day with a hearty country breakfast, then can linger over coffee while watching local horsemen riding en route from Rita's barns to the nearby meadowlands. Or, they may choose to stroll through the flower and herb gardens. Room rates range from $70 to $85. Located on the outskirts of Ithaca, the bed-and-breakfast just around the corner from Sapsucker Woods, home of Cornell University's Laboratory of Ornithology.
