The Hound & Hare (607/257-2821)--3 units. Historical significance runs deep at this inn. The magnificent colonial-style house is set on a military tract that was given to the owner's ancestors by George Washington for service in the Revolutionary War. The white brick structure is surrounded by giant pines and features splendid herb gardens, fragrant rose beds, even an old-fashioned lily pond. Inside, too, time seems to stand still. The rooms all have private baths (the bridal suite features a jacuzzi) and are decorated with heirlooms, antiques and lace. Each morning, a gourmet breakfast is served in the formal dining room or on the porch with a view of the gardens. Each afternoon, tea is served in front of the fireplace in the living room while a nearby library provides a place for games and music. Room rates range from $75 to $150. The Hound.& Hare is located just three miles from downtown Ithaca. Home | Restaurants | Historic Inns | Wineries | Ithaca | Seneca Falls | Auburn | Aurora |
