The Federal House

The Federal House (607/533-7362)--4 units. This 1815 inn features spacious rooms furnished with antiques, original woodwork and hand-carved fireplaces--the later reputedly made by Brigham Young as an apprentice carpenter. All rooms and suites offer king- or queen-size beds and private baths; some also have gas fireplaces and private sitting areas. Guests are served a full breakfast each morning in the elegant dining room and can enjoy the sights and sounds of nearby Salmon Creek Falls while sitting on the porch or in the gazebo. Anglers may fish for salmon or trout at the- Falls or many other locations along Salmon Creek, all within easy walking distance of the inn. Room rates range from $65 to $175; corporate rates are available, too. Just a short drive from Ithaca along Cayuga Lake, the inn is located in the serene hamlet of Ludlowville.
