Taughannock Farms Inn (607/387-7711)--13 units. Awarded the AAA three-diamond rating, this circa 1873 inn has five air-conditioned guest rooms in the inn, each with private baths and decorated with Victorian antiques. Additionally, three lovely guest houses offer superior accommodations for families or small groups. Guests enjoy an expanded continental breakfast as well as access to miles of hiking trails in Taughannock Falls State Park which provides breathtaking views of the gorge, Cayuga Lake and Taughannock Falls (at 215 feet, taller than Niagara Falls). At the end of the day, guests can relax with a glass of wine from the bar in the upper lobby overlooking the lake, then dine in a tiered porch that offers an exceptional view.
