This small gem on Cayuga Lake's eastern shore has been recognized as an educational center since the 1790s when its first school was built. It's perhaps best known, however, for its highly regarded Wells College. Aurora's history is documented through its architecture, too; most of the buildings in the village--including the Wells College campus--are listed in the National Register of Historic Places.
